We at Stone Hedge Equestrian Center felt the need to tell more about what use to be and what is now the Center. A full length history is provided below to describe the changes this Facility made through the years. Enjoy!

The Beginning...

Stone Hedge Equestrian Center, was originally known as Royale Morgan Farms starting in the late 1800's. As the Morgan breed was popular in its home state of Vermont. Carrying the similiar design of brick as the University it only started out as a small Ten Stall barn. Providing the United States with some of the finest Morgan's in the country. As years passed the original owners, Mark and Cathy MacGraw died in the 1930's. This left their Son managing the farm as it were, when in 1939 he became far to Ill to continue his parents footsteps and put the Horse's and Farm up for sale.

A new life...

Bought by a family whom raised and showed Arabians, it stayed with them until the early 1960's. Where a Stallion of whom is said to haunt the stalls of SHEC still was murdered by the Mistress of the farm. After this, the farm went into auction. It was bought for a small price by the University as a small basis of out of school breeding program for the Native breed of Vermont. It stayed this way for many many years, until 2003 when they found it was no longer needed. As it had become larger and more advanced in features but slightly run down it went up on the market for $1,983,934.00 a large price for such a rundown facility.

Starting a new...

Given a new name, a whole new look by the individual known as Dr. Renny R. Kalaway, DVM, Ph. D. She had sold her previous farm Kaleidoscope Stables and moved up north to provide individuals with a high tech, state of thee art, fully functional Equine Center. Stone Hedge Equestrian Center has now become a main Focal point of Training in all sorts of events. Including four riding arena's; one indoors with the finest sand imported, one dirt ring, one astroturf ring and another outdoor sand ring. Two large barns, almost over Forty stalls and good amount of paddocks and a large pasture to even everything out!
